The detainee was identified as Abdul-Rahim Sa'id Mansour, from Bal'a village near Tulkarem, in the northern part of the West Bank.

Mansour is the brother of Ibrahim who was killed by the Israeli army in 1988. Ibrahim was the first Palestinian to be killed by the Israeli army in Tulkarem during the first Intifada.

It is worth mentioning that there are more than 10.000 Palestinians imprisoned by Israel. 510 were kidnapped and imprisoned before the Al Aqsa Intifada which started in late September of 2000. Among them 340 who were kidnapped before the first Oslo agreement.
