Capitals- Syrian demonstrators ransacked their country's embassies around the World; in particular they stormed the diplomatic mission in Berlin, Cairo and organized meetings in U.S. and Great Britain.

Press reports Saturday said that anti-regime demonstrators are attacking the Syrian embassies as part of protests around the world against the worst bloodshed of the 11 month uprising against President Bashar al-Assad, Reuters reported Saturday.

The Cairo crowd smashed furniture and equipment and set fire to parts of the embassy building overnight, Reuters added.

In London, about 150 people hurled stones at the Syrian embassy, smashing windows and shouting slogans. Five men were arrested after breaking into the building and another was held for assaulting police, London police told Reuters.

The opponents of President Bashar Assad’s regime broke into Syria’s Embassy in Kuwait earlier on Saturday. They broke the windows and put the flag of opposition on the roof. No casualties were reported, state news agency KUNA said.

In Athens, Greece, 12 Syrians and one Iraqi were detained for throwing stones at a guard post outside the Syrian embassy, a Greek police official said. They were expected to be released later in the day.

Protests also broke out outside Syrian embassies in Germany, the United States.

Press reports added Saturday that Syrian activists in Cairo have urged people to protest outside Syrian embassies around the world, and there have also been demonstrations in the US, Sweden, Spain and Germany.

Alexander Page, in Cairo, tweeted: "We are going to raid #Syria'n embassies around the world, this is our duty to our people, they are being massacred right now.
Saturday's protest actions and attacks on embassies began after information about opening fire at Homs city was spread and reports about an assault by Syria`s regime forces that killed more than 200 people in the Syrian city.

However the Official Damascus dismissed the reports. Syrian Officials also claim “groups of saboteurs, who affiliated to the so-called Istanbul Council, on Saturday dawn attacked the Syrian Embassies abroad.” according to state-run SANA news agency report on Saturday.

Meanwhile at the United Nations, the Security Council was due to meet later in the day to vote on a resolution on Syria. The draft resolution calls on President Bashar al-Assad to hand power to a deputy to oversee a transition.

Syria has been gripped by nationwide protests against President Assad's regime for almost a year.

The UN stopped estimating the death toll after it passed 5,400 in January, saying it was too difficult to confirm numbers.

The Syrian government has denied carrying out attacks against civilians but says at least 2,000 members of its security forces have been killed fighting "armed gangs and terrorists". http://samotalis.blogspot.com/
