Somaliland: Sharjac Charity International Distributes Food

HARGEISA(SomalilandPress)–Sharja Charity International began distributing food in several regions of Somaliland. The food distributions began in Hargeisa city and were followed by Gabiley, Hawd and Awal where the poor and the internally displaced people from southern Somalia were given variety of foods. Speaking at the food distribution was Sharja Charity International’s East Africa Mr. Mohamed Sheikh Abdirahman Baraawe who said the food distribution is the result of witnessing the shortage of food goods and the hardship that poor families are facing in Somaliland recent months. Rashiid Salaah Binu one of the delegates of Sharja Charity International said “we came to Somaliland on behalf of Dr. Suldan Mohamed Al-Qaasim in order to help the poor people who are facing a sever famine due to lack of rains in the past few years”.

Sharjah Charity International (SCI) is a United Arab Emirate based NGO that assists the needy and has several location in East Africa, Asia and Middle East. UAE government has been helping Somaliland in recent months with food distribution, surveying water resources and medical assisting.
