Focus group volunteers required for study on Media and Social Relations

ANNOUNCEMENT:

Focus group volunteers required for study on Media and Social Relations

Are you Muslim and interested in political issues? Would you be prepared to be involved in a focus group in London discussing the contribution of the media to social relations in the UK? We are paying £20 per person to take part in an hour to an hour and a half group, male and female over 18's required. Focus groups will be held during August 2011.

If you would like to take part please contact Justin Schlosberg: j.schlosberg@gold.ac.uk.

The research is part of a study looking at the way in which the media contributes to or prevents social cohesion and good relations between different communities. As part of this, we are considering media aimed specifically at Muslims, and also the ways in which more mainstream media channels (BBC, ITV, etc.) and newspapers (The Times, The Daily Mail, etc.) handle issues about Muslims or other minorities. All responses will be treated anonymously.

The study is being conducted by Staffordshire University (UK), Keele University (UK) and the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research on Conflict and Violence (University of Bielefeld, Germany) in cooperation with the Institute for Strategic Dialogue (UK). The study is funded by the Vodafone Foundation Germany and the British Council.
