A man who stole panties has been sentenced to one-year in jail by a Gucha court.
James Aguta Thomas broke into Gideon Omwega's house on the night of July 3, at Boochi, Gucha district. He stole a bag containing panties, one biker, a petticoat, stockings, body cream and Sh1,800 belonging to Puruchara Rose Kwamboka.
Kwamboka had visited her sister and left a bag containing the said items in the sitting room.
When she returned, the bag was missing. With the help of clan elders, they searched the neighbourhood the following day and recovered the stolen items in the accused's house. The items were brought to court as exhibits.
He was convicted on his plea of guilt.
In mitigation, Aguta told the court he was an orphan with no one to depend on. He vowed not to steal again.
