Europe continues protests against Israel
Protesters in Paris by the Peace Wall
Tens of thousands of pro-Palestinian protesters have rallied in Europe protesting Israel's devastating 22-day onslaught on the Gaza Strip.

In Paris, Saturday, 20,000 protesters waving Palestinian flags and chanting 'resistance, resistance' marched peacefully towards the presidential Elysee Palace.

The demonstrators also carried photos of wounded Palestinian children and waved banners saying 'Israel assassin', 'Shame on Israel' and 'Stop the killing of Palestinians in Gaza'.

Meanwhile, thousands of people rallied in Munich and Berlin on Saturday, demanding that Israel's military and political leaders face punishment for committing war crimes in Gaza.

There was a heavy police presence at the German rallies, as similar protests last week ended in street violence when some people attending a synagogue raised Israeli flags as marchers passed the building.

Tens of thousands of marchers have poured onto the streets of European cities on each of the last four Saturdays in response to the Israeli onslaught on Gaza, which kicked off on December 27.

Also in London, a crowd of 5,000 pro-Palestinians was addressed by speakers including Tony Benn, a former Labor cabinet minister, and George Galloway, an MP, who accused the BBC of bias against Palestinians. The protesters chanted 'BBC, shame on you' and a few threw shoes at the BBC office.

Similar demonstrations were also held in Birmingham.
