Blood donation campaign for Gazans in full swing

JEDDAH – King Abdulaziz University Hospital, the organizer of the blood donation campaign for Gaza in Jeddah, is setting up locations for blood donation at different places in the city after receiving requests from various organizations to organize facilities for donating blood on their premises.

“Many people are coming forward to help organize more centers for blood donation for Gaza. On Sunday we will be at Dar Al-Hekma College, and if we need to continue, we will stay there longer,” said Dr. Salwa Hindawi, director of blood transfusion services at KAUH, and the person in charge of the blood donation campaign in Jeddah.

“We have also been contacted by Mobily Company to set up a blood donation facility at their premises on Tuesday, and we will stay there as long as necessary,” she said. Many people go to the university hospital facility to donate blood in the morning. “People are very helpful; in four days last week, we collected 650 units of blood,” she said. In Jeddah, the hospital is in charge of the blood donation campaign. “We want everyone to participate in this campaign. All hospitals are helping each other, but in Jeddah, KAUH is the only hospital which is participating in the campaign both at the university campus and outside,” she said. “This is the last week for the blood donation campaign for Gaza, and we are ready to help in any way that we can,” she added.
