Question
I understand that it is compulsory for women to wear the hijab. But should it be enforced by law? If so, should it be enforced for non-Muslim women?
Answer
Wa `alaykum As-Salamu wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger. It is true that hijab is wajib ( compulsory) and it is Allah’s ordainment. Like the salah (prayer) and other acts of worship, they have to be performed with sincerity which lies in the intention and conviction of the individual, rather than the state imposes a special policy to interfere in the people’s relationship with the creator. Therefore, the individual is supposed to enjoy freewill, even in matters of belief, not to mention acts of worship so that the salah, hijab, etc. do not becomes acts of lip service. . When free choice is secured, the acts of worship are usually done and performed in a better and stronger way, because people will be doing them with conviction and sincerity. The state, on the other hand, is supposed to provide guidance for people, making sure people understand their faith correctly and explaining Qur’an and sunnah in such a way that leaves no doubts in the minds and hearts of people. . As for the second part of the question, if hijab cannot be forced on the Muslim, it is by default can’t be imposed on non-Muslims. Allah Almighty knows best.

Question
Assalam-o-alaikum and Ramadan kareem to all of you. My question is about keeping wudu during Ramadan, if someone has gastric and constipation problem then keeping wudu becomes difficult usually what does Islam say about it for saying prayers and doing other worships? Thank you.
Answer
Wa `alaykum As-Salamu wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger. You should try your best to renew your wudu at your convenience for the salah. For others acts of worship such as dhikr ( mentioning Allah's names) and tasbeeh (glorifying Allah), you may not be required to perform wudu’. If there is a problem with using water, taymum ( dry ablution) can be a further alternative. Try your best, and if it becomes a persistent problem, just ignore it and keep on making just one fresh wudu for the salah and continue on with it. Allah Almighty knows best.

Question
Please help me to protect my chastity in this western country Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim Assalamu alaikum Wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu. I have no intention to give divorce to my present wife anyhow, Insha Allah. She lives in our native country. We have children. I love her and love my children. She does not want to leave her country anyhow because she wants to live near to her parents. So I need to marry further in this western country where I wish to live and found a Muslim lady for that purpose. This will be my second marriage, Insha Allah. But the law of this western country tells that I am not able to marry further legally in this country because I still have one marriage. Moreover the lady I found, she does not interested in any unregistered marriage. So to register my second marriage in this western country if I collect an official divorce document from my native country regarding my present marriage - (1) should it affect my marriage; (2) after collecting this divorce document or before, if I fill any immigration paper where I indicate myself as a divorce person should it affect my marriage. Please note that, I will not say any divorce verbally nor I will write anything in that divorce document. This is only an official divorce document need to marry further in that western country and register that marriage. Furthermore, I have no any intention to give divorce to my 1st wife. Please provide me the way, how I am able to preserve my first marriage and married 2nd time in this western country to protect my chastity. Jazakallahi Khairan.
Answer
Wa `alaykum As-Salamu wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger. The only option I see is that you get your wife completely involved in these complications you are facing so that she understands and takes responsibility for any consequences. You should inform her that it is easier and for the best interest of the family that she moves with you; that way you save marriage and spare yourself the trouble of going through these complications. You need to clearly inform her the consequences of her choice, i.e. that you will marry a second person which will require in your case a divorce done legally. If she insists on her choice, then I believe she has to be responsible for the divorce. Allah Almighty knows best.

Question
Salamu aleykom my mother has an Alzheimer's disease, not in 100% normal, wondering about Ramadan, does she has to fast. She takes medicine for her illness. Thank you.
Answer
Wa `alaykum as-salamu wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh. In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger. She is exempted from fasting based on her situation. However, if she insists on fasting and she remembers the rules of fasting, and there is no problem from the medical perspective (consultation with doctor is necessary), then I see no problem in letting her fast. Question
Salam Please let me know if having a medical object inserted to women private part for scanning purpose will invalidate fasting? Jazakum Allahu Khayran
Answer
Wa `alaykum As-Salamu wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger. Unless it is a medical necessity that requires immediate treatment, this should be done after iftar (breaking fasting) . It is better to avoid treatment of this type during the daytime of Ramadan. However, if there is urgency in doing such scanning, there is no harm and this does not affect the validity of fasting. Allah Almighty knows best.

Question
Salamau 'aliykum Happy Ramadan to everybody. My question is that my wife is 6 months plus pregnant. Is it compulsory for her to do fasting or not? Please answer me in details. Jazaka Allah Khair
Answer
Wa `alaykum as-Salamu wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh. In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger. Medical consultation is necessary in this case. It is not enough that you seek a juristic opinion, it is equally important to consult a physician that makes you aware of reservations and consequences. If a woman is weak or finds untold suffering when fasting during pregnancy, she may not fast so that she does not harm herself or the baby. However, if fasting is harmless during a certain stage of pregnancy, then it is permissible to fast. Allah Almighty knows best.

Question
Ramadan Mubarak Is a pregnant allowed not to fast? If yes and she does not work who will give food for 60 poor instead of her? Is it her husband? THANK YOU
Answer
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger. In case of pregnant woman who does not fast, the view of the majority of scholars is that she makes up for her fast. However, if the woman breastfeeds and it is difficult or harmful for her to fast, then compensation is acceptable. In the case you mentioned, the husband should pay on her behalf. Allah Almighty knows best.

Question
If a husband and wife have sexual intercourse at night in Ramadan month, till what time they are allowed to have ghusl ( ritual bathing) l? What is the maximum time allowed for ghusul?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger. Ideally, they should make ghusl before fajr (dawn ) so that they don’t miss the salah. However, if they missed fajr because of sleeping or forgetfulness, for example, then they can make ghusl as soon as they wake up. Allah Almighty knows best.

Question
Assalmualikum. my question is if I somehow listen to music or look at a female without having the intention to do that. Would my fast be invalid?
Answer
Wa `alaykum As-Salamu wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger. A fasting person is supposed to use every minute in getting closer to Allah and make the most of Ramadan. Ramadan is a season for doing good deeds and seeking purification. If a person slips by mistake, he should not continue, but rather repents immediately and do lots of istighfar (asking forgiveness) and tawbah ( repentance) that he would not repeat such a sin a second time. It might be a good idea to find alternative such as anasheed (religious anthems) though Qur’an is highly recommended especially in Ramadan. Sins of this type do not technically break the fast, by they take away the reward and make fasting void of its spiritual dimensions. Allah Almighty knows best.

Question
I have been viewing Tarawih prayers from Makkah on IOL. I see the imam raises his hands and makes dua during the last two rakats. as i tune in late I do not no if its a unit of tarawih or nafl. also I see people Circumventing Kabbah while salat is in progress is this allowed?I would like to know if they read Witr in congregation
Answer
Wa `alaykum As-Salamu wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger. Du’a’ is usually done in the witr salah, which is a sunnah prayer. When people are performing taraweeh, it is allowed to make tawaf around the ka’bah: for those performing umrah, it is mandatory, for others it is sunnah which can be done concurrently with the tawareeh prayer in progress. Witr prayer can be performed individually or congregationally. Usually people perform it collectively after taraweeh. Allah Almighty knows best.

Salam Please clear my doubt ,Medication and instruments inserted into the woman's private part break the Fast?
Answer
Wa `alaykum As-Salamu wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger. Again, it is better to delay this till after iftar, unless there is a great need of doing it while fasting. In any case, it does not break the fast. Allah Almighty knows best.
