Way out for Somaliland to realize aspiration

Way out for Somaliland to realize aspiration

By M.A Egge

Now that we know our global positioning as concerns Somaliland vis-à-vis Somalia cum Africa and world politics, we might as well be quite safe as to aver that as concerns our plight, aspirations and future, the sky is the limit.

Whatever historical bells the Lancaster House might ring, we are at best one of the happiest Africans today in this continent.

As pundits in political equations, and for that matter, precisely as concerns our part of the world, we proudly say that our President has made a titanic step forward to pave the final meters leading to the end of our long trek to freedom.

Now that the international society not only reckons but (however silently) acknowledges one existence as, not the defacto, but a justifiably deserved dejure state which is quite a separate entity from the Somalia of Mogadishu, ours as Somalilanders it is to do the necessary.

One is the unconditional support to the government, state, country and peoples of the country in multi-prong and multi-faceted ways.

Uppermost in our priorities is to maintain and uphold peaceful scenario and stability that is, or has been, our standard procedures.

So, too, should we uphold our homegrown real trademark of resorting to dialogue in cases of brushing of shoulders for amicable conciliatory and fruitful results.

Next in line of prioritizations is the solidarity of Somalilanders to be bolstered. In this case we would enhance, in the best demeanor there is, our fortified status as an unbreakable unit in one shell of patriotism.

Last but not least is the exercising and dispensation of our obligations to our country through payment of taxes, adherences to law and order and, of course, fledge the community/ government inter-relations.

Given all the above therefore, it is incumbent upon, just as it imperative, that the collective moves above be coaxed, mobilized and coordinated by the arms of the government in the sense of the executive, parliamentary and judiciary. Most burden of course naturally falls on the executive shoulders.

The cabinet members, their DGs and departmental heads should know (and do) the necessities/ necessary.

The parliament (both) should join in the fray and inject its political acumen. For both the executive and parliamentary arms of state, the traditional leadership connection must be interjected.

As for the judiciary, their rapport can best be harvested as they advice security arms and people on legal rights.

Lastly, the forth protocol, read the media- should be at the forefront and must be put to real good use.

This is all for Somaliland, our Somaliland, the Somaliland we want and have all along dreamt for.

Thus, it's the way to realize our dream, which is indeed no longer a dream, but surely a reality.
