HARGEISA-Somaliland president Mr. Ahmed Mohamed Siilaanyo today sacked the country’s army chief Mr. Mohamed Hasan Jidhif and the head of operations for Somaliland national army Mr. braahim Caydiid Dhab-dhable. President Siilaanyo appointed General Ismail Mohamed Osman “Shaqale” as the new Joint Chiefs of Staff and Mr. Abdillahi Haji Jamas as the new head of operations for Somaliland National Army.
According to press release issued from the office of the presidency, president Siilaanyo hast appointed Gen. Ismail Mohamed Osman ‘shaqale’ as the new Joint Chiefs of Staff and Mr. Abdilahi Haji Jama ‘Calas’ to be the new head of operations for Somaliland national army. Official transfer of leadership is set to take place on Saturday, February 11th at the department of defense.
The sacking of Somaliland army chief comes after Somaliland forces in Buhoodle have been in fierce fighting with local militia backed by ONLF rebels and Al Shabaab terrorist in the outskirt of Buhoodle in the last few days. Somaliland forces were able to overpower surprise attacks that the militia attempted against the forces based in the front line.
