Somalia: Blast At UN Building in Mogadishu Leaves One Person Dead


Mogadishu — At least person has been killed in an explosion that took place in United Nations Mine Action Service office in Mogadishu, witnesses said Saturday.

Mustafa Mohamed Da'ud, the man who died in the blast, was one of Mine Actions' staff and bomb. Reports said

Some of agency's staff told Shabelle that the bomb was found in Mogadishu's and exploded while unloading from a pick-up near the office of Mine Action which is around Mogadishu.

One car has been destroyed in the bomb blast, the United Nations Mine Action Service staff added.

After the blast officials from Somali police reached at the spot to investigate how the incident occurred. Meanwhile no comments about the bomb were so far available from government or UN officials so far.

The UN Mine Action Service manages a de-mining programme and works to raise awareness of the dangers of landmines.
