Which Muslim personalities interest/inspires you?

Assalamu Alaikum Warahmatullah

So, which Islamic personalities of the past piqued your interest, held your interest, and became inspirations or good examples for you? Other than Prophet Muhammad of course, he was the best of all personalities and nobody can even come close to competing with him.
This thread is for us to post about those in the golden past who interest and inspire us, and also for us to post stories and anecdotes or books, or links that tell us of their lives.

For me, the khulafa-e-raashideen, the first four rightly guided caliphs are a source of interest and looking up to, each of them were such amazing men, close confidantes of the Prophet and men who went through a lot to establish peace and justice.

Hadhrat Sumaiyya, the first martyr of Islam, who was a woman.

Hadhrat Khalid Bin Waleed; Saifullah

Mahmood of Ghazni

he was the son of a noble servant, Sabuktagin, who became a king later on in his life. He conquered most of India, and his goal was to wipe out idolatry and establish Islam. There's an excellent book about him Mahmood Ghaznavi
by Professor Fazl Ahmad.

Others include Tariq Ibn Ziyad, Sultan Muhammad Al-Fatih, and Shaikh Maulana Muhammad Ilyas Kahndehlwi, who re-started the work of Dawah taking th example of the Prophet Muhammad and his sahaba.
