Somaliland congratulates new Somalia President

HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – The democratic election of a president in Somalia is a sign of that the country is returning to stability.

The President H.E Ahmed Mahmoud Silanyo has congratulated the newly elected president of Somalia H.E Hasan Sheikh Mahmoud who replaces Sheikh Sharif following a unanimous vote by parliamentarians.

A press statement released by presidential press officer Ahmed Suleiman Duhul informed that the entire citizenry of Somaliland that congratulates the newly elected president also recognizes the great service of the outgoing Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed.

The presidential statement read

Quote "On my own behalf and that of the people of Somaliland, hereby congratulate the newly elected president of Somalia Hasan Sheikh Mahmoud who received a four years mandate from majority of votes in parliament'.

" I also extend congratulations to the outgoing president Sheikh Shariff Sheikh Ahmed for gracefully accepting the decision of parliament"

" The government and people of Somaliland who have for a long time shared the pain of their brethren in Somalia, see the eelection of Hasan Sheikh as a prelude to peacefull co-existence, security and establishment of a functional government that would spearhead the election of the next president by universal suffrage as is the norm in Somaliland"

" Your Excellency President Hasan Sheikh Mahmoud, the government and people of Somaliland who pray that Allah ease your tenure also hope that the two neighbouring countries will partner in working for a better Horn of Africa"
