Two Somaliland Government Officials Arrested After Visit To Mogadish

- The Somaliland Security forces arrested two Somaliland government officials at Berbera International Airport after their return from Mogadishu.

The two men, Ahmed Dhego, who is with the Somaliland Football Association and Mohamed Hussein Dhabeye from the Somaliland ministry of Civil Aviation were arrested at the airport.

According to reliable sources these two government officials went to Mogadishu, allegedly, in order to seek amalgamation between Somaliland football clubs based in Hargeisa with those in Mogadishu. As well as, attempting to seek closer ties with with the Somalia Football Federation in Mogadishu.

It is not clear whether these two officials had the permission and blessings of their relevant ministers Ali Saeed Raygal at Sports and Mohamud Hashi Abdi at Civil Aviation.

It remains to be seen what steps the administration of President Ahmed Mohamed Mohamud "Silaanyo" takes against these two government officials.

However, it appears that the two men acted, allegedly, on their own. It is becoming normal for Somaliland officials to rush to Mogadishu without proper authorisation and with the recent amendment to the constitution allowing direct contact between Somaliland and Somalia officials, the situation has become murky and unclear.
