High Court HargeisaBy: Yusuf M HasanBERBERA (Somalilandsun) – The country judiciary is independent thus free to decide without government interference.
This was said by the Chief Justice Yusuf Ismail Ali during a press conference at Berbera law courts where he also informed that none of the 9 disqualified political groups have submitted their case to a court of law anywhere in the country.
The chief Justice who is on the last leg of his working visit to regional high courts where he presided and winded up several pending cases urged the unsuccessful groups to address their grievances through proper legal channels instead of their confrontational chosen path that will only bear sour fruits.
Justice Yusuf Ismail assured the 9 groups that their grievances if presented will be determined in a transparent manner devoid of fear or favour, Said he, "The Judiciary's 100% independence enables judges and magistrates determine cases without bias"
The chief justice thanked President Silanyo for ensuring that the judiciary is free of interference from the executive branch, he said that the never ending recruitment of skilled legal experts who are deployed at all levels coupled with this non-interference from the executive translates to citizens satisfaction in the system.
Justice Yusuf Ismail congratulated the legal graduates who have opted for service in the judiciary as opposed to seeking high paying jobs with international organizations or leaving the country entirely to seek greener pasture in Europe under the charge of human traffickers.
"The prevailing plethora of these youthful graduates in our courts nationwide has not only strengthened service provision but revitalized the entire system" said the Justice
