Nuradiin Schools 22nd Graduation Ceremony

HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – For the first time, the number of girls graduating from a local institution have surpassed that of boys.
This was ascertained during the 22nd graduation ceremony of Nuradiin schools at Mansoor hotel where 55% of the 1038 graduates were girls. According to the schools proprietor Mr. Mahad Ibrahim Mohamed the girls did not only outnumber boys they also scored better.
Said he, "For the first since Nuradiin School was established 17 years ago girls have outnumber and outscored boys"
The graduation that was graced by a large number of celebrants among them minister of youth and sports, Director general ministry of education, parents, teachers and students was briefed on the history of Nuradiin schools by the proprietor. The graduates were awarded certificates for achievement in the subjects of English, French and Arabic languages, Math's and Information communication technology-ICT.

In a class institution with 8 students in 1995, It now consists of a fully fledge primary school, secondary school, professional studies college and informal school with over 10,000 students. Most of It over 25,000 graduates is gainfully employed in both the private and public sectors while others have set shop privately.
The Nuradiin schools proprietor praised parents for continued interest in the educational welfare of their children that has helped see the country turn from one with about 90% illiteracy levels a decade ago to today where recent estimates show levels are 47%.
Mr. Mahad who said that the increase in the national literacy levels will go to waste if graduates do not find jobs urged the government to embark on plans for putting Somalilanders to work through policies relevant to creation of employment opportunities.
At the same ceremony that saw the graduates entertain guests with traditional dance and music, the government revealed ambitious plans which will help increase the number of students registering at schools nationwide.
The Director of Higher Education at the ministry of education Mr. Khadar Ahmed Diriye informed that the government will soon start 100% subsidies for public secondary schools and universities, thus free education for students of these institutions. He revealed that since the government made primary school education free two years ago registrations have increased by over 75%.
The Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture Hon. Ali Saeed Raygal while congratulating the graduates, especially girls for their efforts said the government needs learned personnel thus abundant employment opportunities within the public sector.
The minister further congratulated parents, teachers and management of the Nuradiin schools for their dedication to youth education which is directly linked to national development. He informed all and sundry that all office doors at his ministry are wide open to anyone or institution desirous in the development of youth in the country.
In conclusion Hon. Ali Saeed Raygal said that sports is a major component of education as well as national development thus the imperative need for educational institutions to provide sporting facilities and equipment to their students.
