Knowledge is LightBy: Yusuf M HasanHARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – The Vice Chancellor of Hargeisa University has resigned after pressure from students.
During a press conference held at the university Muse Ahmed Aden announced that he has submitted his resignation letter to the minister of education Hon Zamzam Abdi, with effect from today.
Students at the institution of higher learning in Hargeisa have been up in arms against the administration's decision tp increase fees.
The Don said his resignation has been prompted by continued student pressure as pertains to recent fee increments which the students have opposed from day one. He also said personal matters played a part in his decision to resign.
"Though I have been the VC at the Hargeisa university for exactly five months, it has been an honour and pleasure to serve" he said
With this resignation the head hunters are out again to try and find a possible candidate to fill the now empty post which is one of the most impossible in the country owing to the speed in which incumbents leave office.
