HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) - The 2012 national budget has received approval from the house of representatives.
During the house session which had a quorum of 51 members, the 2012 budget was approved by 37 MPs while 19 voted against and one abstained from voting. House speaker Hon Abdirahman Irro who chaired today's session did not vote.
The 2012 budget which amounts to 639,369,240,470 thus an increase of 23% against last year's is the highest in the country to date. The bulk of the increase is geared towards development projects in the health and education sectors which remain a top priority of the Silanyo administration.
The budget will now be passed to the Guurti the upper house of parliament for final approval before the government can start utilizing it.
The 2012 which was prepared under axe former finance Minister Mohamed Elmi Hashi will be the greatest so far for Hashi's replacement former MP Samale who has been doing the rounds of major government revenue collection centre in the country since assuming office.
