Somalia: Nusoj Condemns Killing of Journalist in Mogadishu
Mogadishu — National Union of Somalia journalists NUSOJ has today condemned in the strongest terms, the killing of Somali veteran journalist, A/salan Sheik Hassan, who was shot dead by a gunman dressed in government military uniforms in Mogadishu on Sunday afternoon.
Omar Faruk, the secretary of National Union of Somalia journalists NUSOJ, said, "The killing of A/salan Sheik hassan Hiis, is shocking and unbelievable." He made during an interview with Shabelle media while he is Kenya.
Mr. faruk noted that the killing of this journalist is unacceptable,a heinous crime against a brave journalist and against Somali value.". He called a swift independent investigation into the death of A/salan Sheik hassan Hiis, and to ensure that the perpetrator of this crime against humanity is brought to justice.
The killing of the journalist working for the Horn cable TV channel by gunmen in Somali capital is a part of ongoing harassment of journalists, who are operating currently in the lawless horn of Africa country.
The secretary sent his deep condolence to the families and friends of the killed journalist A/salan Sheik hassan Hiis as well as Somali media.
