President Ahmed Mohamed Mahmoud (Silanyo) has today issued a presidential directive # JSL/M/XILQ/249/1-1963/082013 relieving the former head of Somaliland Diaspora Agency Mr. Mahmoud Abdurrahman Ali of his duties with immediate effect.
The Presidential directive further states the minister of foreign Affairs & international cooperation Hon Mohamed Bihi Yonis to temporary head the Diaspora Agency until further notice.
President Silanyo thanked Mr. Mahmoud Abdurrahman Ali for his servitude to the people and the republic of Somaliland.
The former Somaliland Diaspora Agency Mr. Mahmoud Abdurrahman Ali declined to attend a dinner hosted by President Silanyo for members of Somaliland Diaspora last month.
It’s not clear what caused the dismissing of the official; unconfirmed reports indicated he had fallen out with the current administration.
Mandate:
SDA was established in 2010 and it falls under the ministry of foreign Affairs & international cooperation and it mainly deals with issues concerning members Somaliland Diaspora relations.
SDA is mandated with strengthening the communication and engagements with Somaliland Diaspora communities in attracting investment and development projects not to mention the important role they play in lobbying for the country international recognition.
