Somaliland: Japanese Funded Immigration Building Opened

HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – The Japanese government has handed the immigration department a multi-storey building.
The president H.E Ahmed Mahmud Silanyo officially opened a multi-storey building which is to be occupied by the immigration department.
The construction of ultra-modern building which was implemented by the International Office of migration-IOM and funded by the Japanese government replaces the old ramshackle building formally occupied by the dept.
The official opening of the building were part of festivities commemorating the 19th Anniversary of the national police force that was established on 3rd November 1993
Addressing the assembled guests who included government officials, parliamentarians, politicians as well as representatives from Japan and IOM the head of state said, "I hereby thank the government of Japan for support in the construction of this beautiful building which will facilitate ease of service profusion by the immigration department thus a big achievement for the entire nation"
According to the principal immigration officer Colonel Mohamed Ali Yusuf the new building and modern equipment furnished by the Japanese through IOM has greatly assisted the department perform its activities as per.
The Colonel thanked who also thanked the Kulmiye said that the infrastructural developments and acquisition of modern tools of work are as a result of the ruling party's fulfilment of presidential campaign pledges made in 2010.
"The immigration department is now fully functional in all the country's entry and exit points has managed to control the formerly unchecked movement by foreigners" Said Col Mohamed Ali.
According to the first secretary at the Japanese embassy in Nairobi Mr Atsushi Yonezawa who was issued with a certificate of appreciation, the building's funding is part of the people of japans' commitment to the development of Somaliland.
