Somaliland: 768 Illegal Immigrants deported last year

HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) - The ministry of Rehabilitation has revealed that 768 illegal immigrants were deported to Ethiopia last year.

This fact was divulged to the Guurti by the minister of rehabilitation Mr Abdirazak Ali Osman during a meeting chaired by the deputy chairman of the house of elders Sh. Ahmed Sh. Nuh Furre.

The minister updated the house, on the significant role that the ministry plays and the obligation that his ministry holds for the country, he however tackled five concrete agendas that his ministry is planning for the nation.

The minister further highlighted the four sub-divided departments of the ministry namely: administration department, refugee department, tahrib department and rehabilitation department.

However the minister progressively elaborated for the house the scheduled on-going agendas of the ministry, "domestic programmes for rural residents, watering programmes, professionalism training programmes, firming development programmes and rehabilitation programmes, for the displaced people, he added "a large number of citizens benefited from the these programmes"

Hon. abdirasak Ali Osman also urged "the ministry so far implemented lots of its duties, seven hundred sixty eight (768) illegal immigrants from neighbouring Ethiopian were deported back home by the ministry of rehabilitation whereas, a lot of Somaliland nationals returned home from YEMEN and LIBYA during the violence in those countries.

Said he "the deportation of the Ethiopians and the return home to several Somalilanders stranded in Yemen and Libya was facilitated by the International office for migration-IOM"

In the conclusion of this meeting, the first duty chairman of the house of the elders of Somaliland Sh. Ahmed Sh Noh Furre who thanked the minister for his detailed briefing of ministerial activities informed the members of the house that they have a two days' vacation.
