Tuesday, April 13, 2010 TACOMA, Wash. — A 32-year-old man convicted of murder for the stabbing death of a Tacoma cab driver was sentenced Monday to 28 years in prison. Jaycee Fuller of Tacoma is a former cab driver who was convicted in February for the 2009 killing of the 22-year-old, Mohamud Ahmed, who had his throat slashed during a robbery. He was a refugee from Somalia. The News Tribune of Tacoma reports Fuller spoke at Monday's sentencing in Pierce County Superior Court and maintained he is innocent. He says authorities made a mistake in prosecuting him. Prosecutors say Fuller killed Ahmed because he was desperate for cash and angry at immigrants taking American jobs. Source: AP |
