Somaliland Election Will Go Ahead Without Voters List
HARGEISA, Somaliland (Somaliland Globe)- The Somaliland Electoral Commission has officially announced today that the forthcoming Somaliland presidential election scheduled for 27 September will go ahead without voter list
after Interpeace, the agency that supports Somaliland in electoral and democratisation process, failed to produce the Final Voter List by the due date- Monday, 27July 2009.
The chairman of the Somaliland National Electoral Commission, Jama Mohamoud Omer said following an emergency meeting by the commissioners today they decided that the presidential election would go ahead "without the voter list".
The commissioners' decision coincided at a time the opposition parties accepted the outcome of a draft final voter list produced by the Server Team of Interpeace.
