The Swedish police say a Somaliland woman and five of her daughters died following a fire in their apartment in the Swedish capital of Stockholm.
The overnight incident left two more residents injured, including a sixth daughter from the Somaliland family who had suffered serious injuries and remains hospitalized.
The source of the fire, which broke out around 10:00 p.m. (2000 GMT) on Saturday and spread rapidly on the ground floor of an apartment block in the suburb of Rinkeby, remains unknown.
The 42-year-old mother tried to escape the blazing six-story building with her children, aged between 16 and one. The bodies were found in the stairwell, police said.
More than 60 percent of Rinkeby's inhabitants were born outside Sweden, AFP cited figures from local authorities.
