Somaliland: Credible threats pushed terror alert high

Hargeisa, 12 May 2009 (Somalilandpress) - The threat alert was pushed high after after Somaliland security forces have been informed of major terrorist threat. This comes after rumors have been speculated that another deadly terror attacks might be carried out by Alshabaab.
The police have been searching all the vehicles during the night and set up check points in Hargeisa, the capital city of Somaliland. Reports say the police carried out several operations in some hotels and other houses in the city searching a possible hide for the terrorists.
Unconfirmed reports say during a large scale operation late last night, the police arrested at least three persons believed to be Alshabaab members planning to carry out attacks in Somaliland.
There is no official statement from the government but the police operations are ongoing in order to combat the terrorists before they carry out any such attacks. Government officials did not want to give any details so far.
Somaliland witnessed a bloody suicide attacks on 29th of October last year where at least 24 persons died and more than 30 others wounded. The government said Alshabab was behind the attacks.
