Somaliland Government To Bring Charges Against Dr. Gabbose

Hargeisa, 12 April 2009 (Somalilandpress) - The Somaliland government has informed its top army chief that he should not be meeting with any opposition leader at any of the army's premises. The government has given this order after the chief of the army met last week with Kulmiye leader Mr. Ahmed Mohamed Silanyo at the Somaliland's Military headquarters.

In a press conference in his office, the Vice Minister of defense Mr. Ahmed Mohamed Filanwaa said that there is a procedure to follow if any politician wants to meet with the military forces and that is to go through the defense Ministry. Mr. Ahmed reiterate again that no politician is allowed to go to any of the army's headquarters at any cost. He said the opposition leaders should know that the military forces are independent from the political affiliation in the country and visiting the military headquarters without the knowledge of the Ministry would create misinterpretation of the government.

Mr. Ahmed said to the press that Dr. Ahmed Gaboose will face charges for going on RAAD TV and telling lies about their meeting with the military forces.

Dr. Gaboose. the chairman of Qaran party, a new political party which is not registered at the government spoke on RAAD TV whereby he notified the people that Kulmiye and the military forces had a mutual understanding on all matters regarding the current issues in the country.

Last week, the opposition leaders paid unexpected visit to the Military and Police headquarters in Hargeisa where they had talks with the chief of Army and police commissionaire in their respective offices.
