FAISALABAD: Good Governance coupled with sense of accountability should be the hallmark of the provincial administration, said Punjab Chief Secretary Javaid Mehmood. He was chairing a high level meeting in the Commissioner's Office here on Tuesday.
The meeting was also attended by provincial secretaries and provincial heads of various field formations. During first leg of his visit to Faisalabad division, the chief secretary underlined the importance of Faisalabad in national economy and directed all provincial heads to have close and effective liaison with industrialists, businessmen and workers to resolve their genuine problems in addition to providing them best possible facilities at their doorsteps. He directed the concerned officers to visit localities inhabited by industrial workers and try to provide them health, education, residence and other social facilities at their doorsteps.
Provincial secretaries were directed to take measures to bring a qualitative improvement in the life of masses with their viable policies coupled with effective implementation and regular monitoring. The chief secretary said that success of their policies would be evaluated from the satisfaction of concerned people. About construction projects, the CS directed them to keep in mind the benefits of the identification of proper site, its in-time completion and its projected benefits to the commoners. "All administrative and technical issues should be completed in a most fair and transparent manner", he said.About his plan to visit divisions, districts and Tehsils along with team of provincial secretaries, he said that it would provide them an opportunity to have first hand information about peoples' problems enabling them to mitigate their sufferings by prioritizing various projects and schemes.
The CM is the motivational spirit behind good governance and government functionaries should perform their duties with missionary zeal by observing complete austerity, he added. The CS directed field officers to take personal interest for the approval of summaries prepared for development projects. They should keep in touch with provincial headquarters for the immediate release of required funding, he said and added that newly constructed buildings of government offices, schools and colleges should immediately be handed over to the concerned departments for their immediate utilization.
The CS directed Secretary Local Government to immediately hand over the audit reports of TMAs to divisional commissioner who would continue to supervise this process. However audit process of TMAs would continue, he added. About Irrigation Department, he stressed the need to protect the canal system and added that Agriculture Department and its affiliated bodies should work in complete harmony to ensure best facilities to the farmers. The persons involved in adulteration and black marketing of fertilizers and pesticides should be taken to task through effective and vigilant handling of cases registered against them, he added.
Election of RWCDS on 29th: The election of Rural Women and Community Development Society (RWCDS) will be held here on November 29. A spokesman of the society said here Tuesday that District Officer (DO) Social Welfare Chaudhry Muhammad Ashraf will preside over the meeting while Hajji Muhammad Akram Ansari chairman National Assembly Standing Committee on Textile and Begum Khalida Mansoor, MNA will attend it as chief guests.
