Kenya the civil societies award

FIDA Kenya wins civil societies award
FIDA Kenya has been named overall winner during this year's Civil Society of the Year Awards (CSOYA).
FIDA Kenya also received the top award in sustainability category and took second place in the Financial management category. The awards organised by the Constitution and Reform Education Consortium (CRECO) were presented during the annual CSOYA ceremony held at a Nairobi hotel.

The Awards attracted 11 Civil Society Organisations (CSO's) competing for seven categories including overall winner award, governance and management award, financial management award, performance award, monitoring evaluation and review award, sustainability award and the Community Based Organisation Achievement award.

In his opening remarks, the Emeritus Archbishop of Nairobi Raphael Ndingi Mwana a'Nzeki congratulated the 11 CSO's for subjecting themselves to external independent review for the purposes of improving their operations and in conformity with tenets of good governance and transparency.

CSOYA aims at enhancing institutional excellence in civil society organisations in Kenya by celebrating and rewarding the civil societies for the work that has impacted communities in which they work, strengthening their internal policies and structures and to award individuals who have done exceptionally well in pushing for the agenda for CSO's.

CRECO is a multisectoral network of 21 CSO's working in the democracy and governance sector.

It works to enhance the capacity of its members and stakeholders on issues of constitutionalism, democratic governance and institutional development.
