Somaliland: Port of Berbera Scoops Second Prize at the 6th Ethio-chamber international Trade Fair

Al Nuur among the Top Somaliland owned businesses Showcasing at the fair

The Port of Berbera has scooped the second overall prize at the sixth edition of the Ethiopia Chamber of commerce trade fair as the best service giving enterprise second only to the Ethiopian Telecom which was nominated the first overall winner this year.
The event was inaugurated with colorful ceremony on November 27- December 03, 2013 in the presence of Federal and Regional government dignitaries, Ambassadors, prominent personalities local and foreign business leaders from across the horn region.
This was the first time Somaliland companies were invited to showcase their products and the various services they provide with the port of Berbera showcasing the wide range of services it offers to both Somaliland and the horn region as a whole.
Representing the Berbera Port Authority at the fair were Mr. Abdirahman Aar Jama who is the personal assistant to the Managing director of the Berbera port Authority Mr. Ali Hoor Hoor accompanied by the deputy head of ports personal department Mr. Ahmed Haybe Warsame demonstrated how the port of Berbera offers a wide range of services to clients and how it caters to the specific demands of its regional customers which renders it the port of choice in terms of economical and service packages it offers to its clients.

Mr. Abdirahman said, “The port of Berbera is located strategically on the oil route, the city has a deep seaport, which serves as the region’s main commercial harbor which has a 650-metre berth and a depth of 11.5-12 metres and the port also provides a corridor to feed people in land locked Ethiopia and Central Somalia.
Among other Somaliland owned businesses who won prizes in this year’s fair were Al Nuur Brand , Mr. Abdurrahman owner and founder of Since launching the AL-NUUR Furniture Company back in 2001, that sales of furniture, accessories and artwork have exceeded our expectations at AL-NUUR and since then we have been going strong and expanding year after year and we now aim to venture into the regional markets as well.
The Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations (ECCSA)has for six years in a row hosted and  organized the 6th edition of Ethio-Chamber International Trade Fair with a view to promoting Ethiopian products and services, Strengthening linkages between various business actors and facilitating technology transfer and Know how to enhance competitiveness of local and foreign industries.
The Trade Fair brought together large number of manufacturers, importers, exporters, local and foreign companies supplying materials and technological inputs to local manufacturers, service giving enterprises and prospective buyers to one spot. It also offers a good opportunity to create a forum for local and international products which link a trade relationship globally. Moreover, it is a great platform to introduce and disseminate available investment opportunities of the country to all stake holders or prospect investors.

The special Magazine, which is expected to be published before the closure of the 6th Ethio-Chamber International Trade Fair will be distributed broadly to large number of customers. The opportunity will make broadly to large number of customers.
