HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – Service Women in the three branches of the Somaliland security forces have re-affirmed commitment to national service at a ceremony officiated by the 1st lady Ms Amina Mohamed Jirde "Amina Weris" in Hargeisa.
The female officers who were attending a meeting discussing the role of women in nation building also thanked president Ahmed Mahmud Silanyo for ensuring that they were also given ranks commiserate with their skills and knowledge during the recent exercise establishing a structured chain of command in the armed forces.
Addressing the congregation of mostly uniformed service women and their newly ranked officers 1st lady Ms Amina Weris told them that their dedication and service diligence over the years has greatly contributed to the country's multi-faceted development.

Informing that a grateful nation holds members of the armed forces women corps in high esteem the 1st lady who congratulated all the service women who were awarded ranks and more specifically the highest ranked one Major Hibo Mohamed Bihi of the police force, said, "I am sure that soon a woman shall be awarded the rank of General"
Speaking on behalf of the women corps Maj Hibo Mohamed Bihi who is the highest ranked female officer in Somaliland extended thanks to the president and the armed forces ranking board for acknowledging service women who also shared in the ranking award.

"We have and shall continue to stand firm in our service to the nation while aspiring for higher ranks in the armed forces as a result of our skills and duties and not gender balancing " said Major Hibo M Bihi as she informed that though she was the highest ranked many service women received ranks from Captain to Corporal.

Others accompanying the 1st lady Ms Amina Weris who was the guest of honour included deputy health minister Ms Nimo Qawdan, Deputy labour and Social services minister Ms Shukri Harir Ismail, presidential Advisor on women affairs Ms Amal Haji Misaan, Sole women MP Ba'ar Saeed, Police commissioner Brigadier Fadal Iman, Deputy Commander custodial corps Col Hasan Ali and deputy Kulmiye party leader Mohamed Kahin Ahmed.
