First of all, congratulations are due to both Mr Ahmed Mohamed Mohamoud, the president of Somaliland for the nomination of the ambassador, and Mohamed Abdillahi Jama (Safiir), the new Somaliland ambassador (representative) in Nairobi for his new role. Cheers are also to all other new envois on same decree.
The tragic death of the late Mohamed Indho Bur, the former SL ambassador in Kenya, was really a blow to Somaliland and it was very indispensable to find a qualified and a charismatic individual to fill his position and the gap that the late has left. I believe that with his academic record and more importantly his political and diplomatic experience Mr Mohamed Abdillahi Jama is the best fit for Nairobi office. Not a new city for him he knows all the leading threads.
I had the chance, in first time, to meet the new ambassadors in London during the course of Somali Conference in February 2012, where he was in reality the centre and mentor of Somaliland delegates and without him I doubt the result would have been less orderly. Other officials, particularly the foreign ministry, were also working hard but it was a blessing to have him (Safiir) and Faysal Ali Warabe as well in the team.
By his loyalty and devotion to the cause of Somaliland in that week of the conference, I have invalidated all the doubts that I had against him in the past, just simply for his time in Mogadishu – as some of you might have now. But, truly the adage that goes ‘’ do not detest me without knowing me’ is true to its word.
Good Luck Ambassador M A Jama (Safiir).
