Nations, Nationalities Day said vital to promote cultural exchange, knowledge share

Addis Ababa, 18 November (WIC) - Cultural Researcher at the Addis Ababa University, Dr. Bayleyegn Tassew, said the celebration of the Ethiopian Nations, Nationalities and People's Day would play an important role towards promoting cultural exchange and sharing of indigenous knowledge within communities.

Dr. Bayleyegn told WIC today that the celebration would help strengthen unity among nations, nationalities and people of Ethiopia and mobilize them for development activities.

He said in addition to consolidating unity in diversity, the celebration would help instill national feelings among nations of the country.
The Day would also enable to create a knowledge sharing culture among the over 80 nations and nationalities of Ethiopia, which according to him is crucial to attain the country's development plan, he added.

Dr. Bayleyegn indicated that exploiting local knowledge is vital to ensure a sustainable economic growth as well as bring about lasting peace and security.

This year's Ethiopian Nations, Nationalities and Peoples Day would be marked on December 8,
