Some 16 political parties field 167 candidates

Adama, February 23 (WIC) – Some 16 political parties have fielded 167 candidates in east Shoa zone of the Oromia state for the May national elections, according to zone electoral board office.

Office Coordinator, Hussen Tifo, told WIC the parties nominated 55 candidates for Parliament and 112 candidates for State Council seats.

He said two independent candidates were also registered to run for seats in the Parliament.

He further said 679, 660 voters have secured IDs from the 1,039 polling stations established in the zone.

According to Hussen, 315, 303 of the electorates were women.
