Somaliland Arrests Three Over Terror
Burao, 21 May 2009 (Somalilandpress) — Three men are expected to appear in a Somaliland regional court to face charges of terrorism after they were arrested in a small town 20km east of Burao [Somaliland's second largest town] by Somaliland's border patrol officers.
All three men are said to be from Somaliland and Puntland region of Somalia - the group are suspected of having ties with the notorious Al Shabab movement that is terrorising the Somali capital [Mogadishu].
The suspects have not yet been identified, there are no evidence of explosives on board of their two 4×4 vehicles [land cruiser pickups] that are currently in the custody of Somaliland' Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Somaliland's intelligence branch.
Officials have not made any comments on the arrests.
They are currently been held in Burao's central prison and are set to appear in Burao's court some time this week.
