The legacy of Abraham Lincoln: A President Remembered

The legacy of Abraham Lincoln

There are enough books about Abraham Lincoln to fill a bookshop. America has had a "lovefest" about their sixteenth President for many years according to one biographer, but historians are only now beginning to appreciate the tremendous influence Lincoln has had on the modern world.

Two hundred years after Lincoln's birth, Allan Little travels to America to assess how his legacy resonates throughout the world and asks if Barack Obama could have got where he is today without him.

Professor of American History at Yale, David Blight, sums up how he believes Lincoln should be remembered.
