Arrest made in shooting death of Minneapolis Somali man

A 22-year-old man was arrested Wednesday in the shooting death of a man behind a Somali mall in Minneapolis late last month.
Police arrested the suspect in the 1300 block of E. 24th Street shortly after noon. He was jailed and charges are pending.

About 9 p.m. on Sept. 29, Abdishakur Adan Hassan, 21, of Minneapolis, was shot on the eve of a major religious holiday in the Somali Muslim community. He went to get a haircut at the crowded Village Market Mall in the 900 block of E. 24th Street.
Hassan immigrated to the United States in 1997 and grew up in Minneapolis, graduating from Edison High School.

"Investigators have been working vigorously since that point to solve this case," police said in a statement announcing the arrest.
Since December, six Somali men from the Twin Cities, all under 40, have been shot to death.
